Hardware Workshop

I need to replace the motherboard in a PC and avoid Windows 10 OS reinstall.

Replacing ASUS Model: H81M-K with JGINYUE H81M-VH PLUS motherboard as future proof upgrade.

As a content producer I’m always looking for “Upgrades & Optimizations for Higher Quality Output Results“.

Transplanting CPU and motherboard, or PC case swap with CPU upgrade. No OS reinstall, just motherboard chipset drivers install.

Other interesting topic is expanding on the mini series “What takes to capture & stream servicing the PC” as this time I bring the web cam from PC desk to the workbench / workshop area.

Here are tech. specs. for both motherboards I’m working on.

Uninstalling hardware drivers in Windows X, is first thing to do.

ASUS Model: H81M-K

CPU: Intel® Socket 1150 for 4th Generation Core™ i7/Core™ i5/Core™ i3/Pentium®/Celeron® Processors
Supports Intel® 22 nm CPU
Supports Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0
* The Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 support depends on the CPU types.
* Refer to www.asus.com for CPU support list.

Chipset: Intel® H81

Memory: 2 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 1600/1333/1066 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture
Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)
* Hyper DIMM support is subject to the physical characteristics of individual CPUs.
* Refer to www.asus.com for the Memory QVL (Qualified Vendors Lists).
* Due to Intel® chipset limitation, DDR3 1600 MHz and higher memory modules on XMP mode will run at the maximum transfer rate of DDR3 1600 Mhz.

Final round

I need is to find out what internal SATA ports are running at what data transfer rate (6G and or 3G). As there is no manual available from manufacturer.

All went smooth, I’ve preformed basic tests like booting to existing installations of WindowsX and Pop!_Os (Linux), checked for the order of GPU initialization.

Maybe I’ll do a session live streaming of software side of final setup; drivers for AMD RX550 GPU, motherboard chipset and onboard GPU, Realtek audio drivers.

For this PC I’m more interested onto Linux side of use-case.
